i was born in philadelphia, the city of brotherly love. spent most of my 20s in new york city, where i made a living writing and editing music - also spent large quantities of time riding the subway hither, thither and yon (tho mostly thither). i then lived some 2 1/2 years in israel where i ate a lot of really good food and learned to dream in hebrew. now i'm nearly 40 and living in los angeles where i spend most of my waking hours writing.

when i'm not writing, i'm teaching others how to write. when i'm not doing that, i'm blogging. i also run a small magazine, which i enjoy tremendously.
