i was born in philadelphia, the city of brotherly love. spent most of my 20s in new york city, where i made a living writing and editing music - also spent large quantities of time riding the subway hither, thither and yon (tho mostly thither). i then lived some 2 1/2 years in israel where i ate a lot of really good food and learned to dream in hebrew. now i'm old and living in los angeles where i spend most of my waking hours writing.

when i'm not writing, i'm teaching others how to write. when i'm not doing that, i'm blogging or cooking up gnarly trivia scavenger hunts and quizzes for mentalfloss.com. i also make little movies and write for an LA-based charity. we're now rolling out a new campaign to wipe out hunger in los angeles. wanna help out? check out the video on our homepage: FedUpWithHunger.org.
